Marie's Late Goal for 'Quakes in 2-2 Tie with Sounders Spoils 2-Goal Game by Morris

Seattle's Three-Game Win Streak Ends with Draw at San Jose

Sounders Twice Took the Lead, but Marie's 88th-Minute Goal Earned San Jose a Share of the Points

A late goal from Jeremy Marie spoiled Jordan Morris' two-goal performance and earned the San Jose Earthquakes a 2-2 draw with the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night at PayPal Park. The result snapped Seattle's three-game winning streak and kept San Jose unbeaten in its last four matches.

Morris put the Sounders ahead twice, but Marie equalized in the 67th minute and then again in the 88th minute to earn a point for the Earthquakes. Cristian Roldan assisted on both of Morris' goals, while Marie's first goal was assisted by Shea Salinas and his second was unassisted.

The draw kept the Sounders in second place in the Western Conference with 43 points, while the Earthquakes remained in ninth place with 30 points. The Sounders will return to action on Saturday when they host FC Dallas, while the Earthquakes will visit the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday.
